  DENTAL TREATMENT UNDER GENERAL ANESTHESIA
There are circumstances where regular dental treatment is impossible and is considered "torture " for the patient as well as for the dentist:
 

"Non cooperative" patient:

  1. Young children
  2. Fears & phobias
  3. Psychological limitations
  4. Physical limitations- for example:
    inability to keep the mouth open for a
    considerable period of time

Special situations preventing "regular" treatment:

  1. Strong "gag reflex"
  2. Increased sensitivity to pain
  3. Allergy to local anesthesia materials
  4. Long operations, complicated dental implantations
  5. Necessity to finish an extensive treatment plan
    within a limited period of time
  6. Desire of the patient to complete the entire treatment in one session

The advantages of the treatment under general anesthesia:

  1. Multiple and complicated procedures completed within several hours
  2. The patient has no recollection of "what went on"
  3. Absence of fear, pain and psychological trauma
  4. Ideal conditions for a quality dentistry are achieved,
    as the dental team has no need to control patient's behavior

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR A SAFE G. ANESTHESIA:
(Don't hesitate about asking to see the permit !)

  1. Medical center licensed by the Israeli Health Ministry
    to provide treatment under general anesthesia.
  2. Dentist licensed by the Israeli Health Ministry to perform
    dental treatment under general anesthesia, after
    completing a special training program
  3. The presence of a specialist in anesthesiology is obligatory
